BCB heading towards election

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is heading towards its elections after the National Sports Council (NSC) on Tuesday approved the newly-drafted constitution passed by the board at its EGM and AGM.The BCB received copy of the approval from the NSC yesterday with the only major change being that the quota of directors from the NSC was decreased from three to two.According to BCB president Nazmul Hassan, the board will take a decision to form the election commission in an emergency executive committee meeting today."After receiving approval from the councillors we sent that immediately to the NSC and they have given us approval. If you notice the verdict of the appellate division according to the verdict and the order of the Supreme Court, the NSC can only approve or disapprove the constitution. As they are unable to do anything apart from that the NSC have approved the constitution," Hassan said at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur yesterday."We have called an emergency executive committee meeting tomorrow (Thursday) where we will decide our next step and also form the election commission. And the election commission will decide the date and regulations of the election. I am still not sure but as far I know it will be a three member election commission,” he continued. When asked if  the tenure of the existing committee would expire on October 13, Hassan refuted that but added that the date of the elections would be declared before then."We are expecting the date of the election will be declared before that day [October 13]. However, our tenure will expire on October 17 as the first board meeting took place that day and our constitution also refers to that. We have no intention to extend that and we will try to hand over everything to the new committee and leave. I can tell you everything in detail tomorrow (Thursday)," he concluded.
