GYC notch first win
Gulshan Youth Club (GYC) registered their first win in the Women's Premier Division Cricket League as they beat Hillol JS by eight wickets while Kalabagan KC sealed a comprehensive nine-wicket win over Indira Road KC at the BKSP in Savar yesterday.Hillol succumbed to their fourth consecutive defeat and were bowled out for just 71 runs after electing to bat, with Rani Khatun top-scoring with 27 and Tanjila Akter being the only other to reach double figures. Anisha picked up three wickets while Tahin Tahera, Shirin Akter and Suraiya Azmim took two wickets each for the bowling side.Gulshan cantered to the target in 14.4 overs for the loss of two wickets.In the other match Indira Road posted 94 for nine in 50 overs after being asked to bat with Morjina Akhter top-scoring with 29 runs. Shaila Sharmin bagged four wickets while Panna Ghosh took three scalps for the bowling side.After the exchange Kalabagan reached the target in 27.5 overs, losing only the wicket of skipper Lata Mondol (6). Sri Lankan recruit opener Lasanthi Madinage remained unbeaten after scoring a team-high 41 while Shaila Sharmin was not out on 37 at the end.
